"I have lived such a wonderful life, I've lived enough for two people."~Charlton Heston
What a great thing to be able to say toward the end of your journey. He was married to his wife for 64 years. That's a great run.

""You know, you could eat off her floor.' Big deal, you can eat off my floor too, there's a million things down there." ~ comedian Elaine Boosler, quoting her mother
The heck with catching up on all the housework I should be doing today. It's beautiful this morning, and I'm gonna play outside all day.

It's 36 degrees right now, and it's not supposed to get much above fifty today. BP wants to wear capris and a sweatshirt.
"It's going to be cold today, BP."
"Don't worry, Mom. I've got nail polish on."
"Huh?"
"It keeps my fingernails warm."

Ah.....the first day of summer. "Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world." ~ Ada Louise Huxtable Two-minute drilling "summer solstice" I found a nice little article from down your way, Q, to follow the quote: www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs....06210008/-1/rss

Not intensely profound, but I liked it anyway...
Humans are like tea bags. They never achieve their full strength until put in hot water.

"Every great mistake has a halfway moment, a split second when it can be recalled and perhaps remedied." ~ Pearl S. Buck
Like that moment between being asleep, and not quite awake when your alarm rings; you reach over turn it off and dream you get out of bed before turning over and falling back asleep. This morning that split second was recalled, remedied, and now (hopefully) I will be on time today.....if I get off the computer and start moving.

Heard in passing...
Me..."Man...I can't believe I have to spend five hours on my off-day sitting in a classroom! Pfft....pfft...PFFT!!"
Mare..."Well, it is punishment. I don't think it's suppose to be fun."
Me..."Oh yeah. Pfft."

One of those I-can't-not-watch-it-if-it's-on-television movies is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Sheesh, I love that movie....Robert Redford and Paul Newman together....swooon.
"I have vision, and the rest of the world wears bifocals. " ~ Butch Cassidy
And here's one from Paul:
“I picture my epitaph: 'Here lies Paul Newman, who died a failure because his eyes turned brown'.”
Still handsome at 86 years old with those blue, blue eyes; actor, activist, race car driver, and philanthropist, and maker of pretty darned good salad dressings, he died anything but a failure.

Well said, Gams. Inez instilled in me her infatuation with him at a young age. Cool Hand Luke remains one of my favorite movies of all time.
I read where for Mother's Day one year he gave his wife (of 50 years) two hours of uninterrupted driving around the roads of Westport CT where they had never been before. How cool is that?

Here's a beauty for the season, describing the beauty of the seaon:
Listen! the wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves. We have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!
~ Humbert Wolfe
Despite the iffy weather - this week's forecasts highs in the fifties, and lows in the thirties - I am so glad we take our family vacations in October; it is truly my favorite month out of the year. We're all packed and ready to go later this morning - just waiting for LX and her friend, (LX and BP are each taking a friend), to finish their second hour math test. Then we are hitting the road, going up-north to a small town where we've rented a house in the woods, on a lake. Five days of biking, kayaking, roller-skiing, fishing, and hanging around watching the autumn put on her colors.
Have a great week, Sweet Taters! Catch you all later.

Thank you, my friend. It's really beautiful and a very comforting thought because I do believe that she has found the peace and happiness that just kept wanting to slip through her fingers here.
I love you all very much.

I only have a minute before I leave for work, but wanted to stop back in this morning and share.
I was sitting out on the porch earlier, drinking my coffee and watching the night start to fade, when I saw something I can't recall seeing since I was a kid; a star shot across the sky and disappeared over the Lake.
It being something I haven't witnessed in so long, of course I had to two-minute drill some of the mystical meanings of shooting stars.
The brief moment a shooting star passes through the sky can symbolize a brief fleeting moment in one’s life that you want to always be reminded of; it symbolizes having a wonderful feeling that lasted for a very short time but feels like it is within you forever. It can also be interpreted as an expression of desire to have a better life.
Just a thought I wanted to share, Q, for you and for Mare.

Thanks, sis, for sharing. I let Bryan read it earlier and he had tears in his eyes as he finished. From another friend's comforting embrace today... "She burned too brightly for this world." And that's exactly how anyone whose life she touched would describe her. You all don't know how much it means to be able to come here for a few minutes of support a hundred times a day. Thank you. Thank you.
