That was a beautiful post, p...thank you for sharing! Still not much color here, but I think after the temperature takes its little plunge, by next weekend it will be gorgeous! I can already feel a difference this morning from last night....& I gotta tell you, it's making me antsy-pantsy!! Makes me want to stay up all day & go play!! But alas, two more nights of work before I am free.... Suppose to be bright sunshine & 60ish this weekend for the festival...I cannot wait! Wish there were some way of sending the katman some pumpkin ice cream----he is such a skeptic! (nothing but love for you, kat!) Speaking of "sending" & tunes....I have DriveII all packed & ready to fly.... let me once again apologize for the mess-up.....what can I say? At least now, you'll have something new for the glide (altho this one may be a bit hard & fast for the perfect glide)....aren't you tired of DI yet?? And finally (I know, never start a sentence with a conjunction, much less a paragraph)....how about a little diddy on your trip....I want to hear of your journey. 'k....need to wind down & try for some shut-eye Peace & luv!

"Temperatures are falling". Yes, indeed they are. Only suppose to get into the fifties today; they starting dropping yesterday afternoon, and damn, working outside; not quite dressed warm enough, it took me all evening to recover. Today; fleece, long sleeves underneath, and I think I'll be okay.
Love to tell about my trip; been meaning to, but haven't recovered from that either. It was fabulous though; everthing about it, and I'll write, (maybe post a picture or two, if I can figure out how to do it, and find one without the group - to protect privacy of course). Just gotta say; a great group of ladies they are.
Later. Gotta run.

Well, here I sit...waiting.....been home from work for an hour......waiting.....you remember, the festival!! Went in & said good morning to the ILB1 with a baby-soft kiss on the forehead....she moaned a tiny moan, turned over, & snuggled back down into her electric blanket (first night out of the closet)....I had to let her sleep a while longer.... The girls were suppose to be up 15 minutes ago....not a peep from them yet....wait!! Everyone is descending upon me at once!! They do care.... ....the fall festival fever burns in them also!! I must go & seize the day!! Happy Harvest Homecoming to everyone!!

I'll be expecting a quart or so of that famous pumpkin ice cream any day now right?
Have a great day all.

ok....so let me give you a rundown..... we split a breakfast of 2 eggs, hash browns, bacon, a buscuit & sausage gravy, & sliced tomatoes....followed by the biggest single dip of pumpkin ice cream I've ever seen. Before I could finish my cone, Mary got a funnel cake with honey glaze & powdered sugar (which we ended up giving half of to the girls), then i picked up four of the plumpest buckeyes for the trip home (buckeyes are peanut butter fudge balls dipped in a chocolate coating so that they resemble a "buckeye")....on the way to the car one last stop at the rolled oyster bar...( used to be 3 or 4 oysters deep-fried in a breading a little larger than softball size....not so anymore one little lonely oyster in the middle of all this doughy ball of breading...yuck! Oh, I forgot to mention our breakfast was fixed in a little trolley-car looking trailer called "Rooster's Grill". Very festival-like! Needless to say....I want to pop!! It was lots of fun for everyone....everybody got trinkets & free yard sticks & pens & pocket tape measures full of advertisements....the girls got to venture off on their own while Mary & I did our own thing... one last stop by the rock-climbing wall...I'll watch from the car on this one--after all, I did come straight from working all night long & we were walking around for over three hours & I did get my tummy sooooo full.... ....ok, I don't feel so bad. Neither daughter made it more than 1/4 of the way up the wall....whew!! I need to stretch out for a bit....

Good grief you guys can pack it away, do you all have hollow legs? Glad to hear everyone had a great time and all went well [ with the exception of the oysters ] are you off again tomorrow to do it all over again, or will it take a few days to recover from all that eating.

Starting to see a bit of color....I'm lovin' it!!

I'm still in complete awe of the color here...gobs of it; neon yellows, orange and red maples and sassafras; fire-engine red black gum; bronzy-colored beeches; eye-popping color everywhere.
I went roller-skiing yesterday morning. Breezing through the piles of leaves on the trail; splashing in them BP calls it. Still wearing shorts and a t-shirt, although at fifty degrees Fahrenheit, it is a bit brisk to start. I still work up a sweat, and though I love the feel of it on bare skin, I can't stand it under layers of clothing. Ick. Icy hands; my fingers never warm up and I wonder how strange it would look wearing shorts and wool gloves at the same time.
Not any stranger, I suppose, than skiing with wheels instead of snow. It won't be long though - it's barely above freezing now - and I am just not ready for it yet.

Our colors are just beginning to kick in with a vengence....which will make for a great Halloween weekend. #1 daughter will be making her first-ever trip to a haunted house & haunted cornfield Saturday night. Just the two of us. #2 daughter being grounded until she turns 18!! One of teachers met Mary outside yesterday when she picked her up to let us know that she is completely blowing off everything. "Smarter & quicker to pick up things than her older sister, just no desire to do the work"....I think those were the words...to that effect, anyway. Mary doesn't do scary, so it will be just myself & the older daughter! Should I try & scare her?? hehe

What a beautiful fall day....bright sunshine....cool, crisp, morning air to breathe in....suppose to be 67 today....may take the girls down to "4th Street Live" today.....Halloween doings for the kids....downtown Louavul where a portion of 4th Street has been transformed into a permanent street fair...clubs, restaurants, bolling alley, etc....bit Halloween doings today. I think it will be geared more for the younger ones, but that's where my biggest kid (ilb) fits in best! (yes, she actually can juggle) It will be a grand day!! Perhaps we'll even dress up.....hm.....

Ok...Montgomery Farms is not quite the happening, picturesque oasis that the web site advertises.... .....& it is the last day of their season today....but it was the most beautiful, gorgeous autumn day you could imagine, ilb & I got $30 worth of Halloween jewelry & trinkets for $15, the girls blew their allowance on other junk, we got to drive in the country & see some great colors, & we all had a fantastic day! We took a detour to the Flea Market (after our "stretched-out" 45-minute stopover at the farm) & found more treasures. Mary found a beautiful silver sun ring for $5 & several other things that we just couldn't live without..... Homeward bound & I'm off again to return movies while the girls do what's no doubt a little last-time-of-the-year lawn care....chairs all folded & lined up neatly in the garage....trash & recycling pulled to the street....a nice cool breeze lifts the curtains gently as I tuck my woobie in around my legs a little tighter....as I look out on our newly-cut lawn, I notice all the leaves that have already found a resting place in our front yard..... It was a good day! *scribbles note to pick up a couple new rakes this week.....*

No, no, no....my favorite season; it can not be ending so soon.
I was walking downtown the other day and saw the ice-skating rink being erected already. Fun; love taking the girls; love skating in wool sweaters and fuzzy mittens, but I don't want to think mittens and ice yet; I've too much roller-skiing yet to get in.
The brilliant color of fall is still hanging on; barely. The last week we had a bunch of gorgeous fall days - breathtakingly so, but windy, and combined with a couple of rainy nights means a lot of the leaves have fallen; many trees are bare now. The big leaf-sucker-upper trucks are making their rounds. I've lived here for about seven years; the only place I've ever seen these trucks devouring piles of leaves like insatiable beasts, but I am still mesmerized watching them make their way down the streets where residents pile leaves from their yards sometimes feet deep. Slowly the truck drives with its long, flexible hose appendage moving back and forth along the curbs sucking up pretty colors like some Cat in the Hat cleaner-upper vehicle.
Too soon; too much left to get in before the snow flies. I want it to hang on like the last orange-yellow leaf hanging from the maple out front, refusing to let go.

By the Gods....what a beautiful day it was here!! I didn't think we were going to have much color, but as it turns out, the trees are looking like an artist's most prized paintings!! I came home this morning & opened the window by my end of the couch...it was about 65 degrees, a wonderful breeze conducting a different melody from each of our wind chimes, & from my perch I could see the most vibrant reds & yellows & oranges....& my favorite---some of the leaves are still green in the middle & dark red at the tips!!! This time tomorrow, we will have some pics up to share, I promise! I can't wait to share! Mary & I couldn't stand it this afternoon, so we jumped in the truck & away we went....a nice long drive down along the river....you can't imagine how calming & exhilarating it was--all at the same time! Then we came home & actually had to turn the air on for a bit to cool off the house...the first week of November!! I wish it would never end.....
