This actor is widely considered the greatest movie actor of all time, altho many "contend" that he squandered a good amount of his acting talents. In the early 40's this then-Broadway actor was hounded constantly by talent scouts to audition for movie parts, but he continually turned them down because he didn't want to be bound by the mandantory seven-year contracts. He didn't break into films until six years later and just one year later received his first of eight Academy Awards for a movie based on a popular Tennessee Williams' play.
Very outspoken politically on Native American rights and said that he continued to make movies to finance a definitive film about Native Americans. The film was never made.
His signature is considered so valuable by collectors, many personal checks that he wrote were never cashed because the signature was considered worth more than the amount of the check.
Need more?

Right, an easy one to ease you back into it. An Academy Award winning actor, he also played the brother of the last actor named here in an intense drama set on the docks.

This 72-year-old country singer is best known (to me) because he married his 13-yr-old cousin, my mom is a great fan, and he likes to shake a whole lot!
I had no idea he had so many movie appearances as a performer and I believe Mr. Dennis Quaid played the part in the movie based on his life.
Oh, and he also shares a birthday with the Katman!
"Goodness gracious...", do ya know?

Right then, let's see how you go with this one ...............
An actor from the distant past best known for his "swashbuckling" roles, his hard living, hard drinking life off screen eventually led to an early death ............. oh and he's an Aussie.

You're spot on as usual, and yep he was an Aussie, born in Tasmania, that little piece right down in the bottom right hand corner of the map that's kinda broken away from the mainland.
