Too bad the leaves don't stay on until, say... January... Or perhaps the first big snow. But then again, it'd be too dang cold to roll around in them.

i've always said i'd love snow if u could play in it at 80 degrees.
u can in AZ. they haul truckloads of snow down from the mountions and dump it in the town sqaure so all the kids can play. it was soooo cool, i mean warm.

Either. I prefer warm enough to canoe during the day & cool enough to build bonfires at night.

We can't just talk about it---we must do it!!! Canoe races? You are so "dead in the water"...lol I saw your pics at Whoosh--they are far from lacking in their beauty also....especially those little tiny feet....what's up with that??

All the beautiful color, and I waited too long to take the pictures, not even thinking about bringing my camera with me on the glide until last week - two or three weeks after our "peak" color. It looks from your pictures that you are about that behind us; two or three weeks. Most of the trees here now are completely bare - means we've got a ton of yard work to do - five mature maples in the yard, and imagine the leaves on the ground! Not to mention every leaf in the neighborhood seems to get blown into our sideyard: the ravine.
Sheesh; I've got my work cut out for me today - one chore I absolutely don't mind though. Love working out in the yard; I just don't find enough time to do it.
Oh...and speaking of yards....remember my friend who I've spoke of prior...good news...great news for him!!! Just too cool that I gotta share, though you've no idea who I'm talking about. But recently a photographer came to the nursery...took a bunch of pictures of fall color and such, and asked if we had any clients who had cottagey type gardens. Gave her a list of them, and put his name on it - his yard is fabulous. Out of all the gardens she toured - not just the names we gave her, but all up and down the shoreline - his was chosen to have a spread in "Cottage Living" magazine - a spin-off of "Country Living". So happy for him, but damn, the spread is not going to appear until next fall when they will take more pictures. He's gonna be hell to be around for the next year, I'm thinking...a perfectionist, and I can see I'll have to get all my "calm down" speeches ready.
Later all; just a bit drippy, and I'm off for my glide; little feet and all.

This has got to be the friend who lives his life much as ilb & myself live ours??...lol...that is waaay cool for him....and knowing that type of friend as I do so well, yes--most definitely he will work your last nerve between now & the time that lay-out is published!! I know about the yard work...we have three of our own & two of the neighbors mature maples that would use our back yard as their final resting place...usually about 25-30 very full leaf bags worth!! Still don't have much of a grip for the rake, so I guess it will be a blower this year....

Well, the girls volunteered to begin the clean-up on the yard today...good thing too, because tonight we have the rain....one of those cold, late fall rains that its only purpose seems to be to strip the trees bare of their last remaining "fig leafs" so to speak....they were out there for over three hours & did an absolutely fabulous job---on the front yard & driveway....next weekend, we tackle the 30-bag job in the back yard!!! Thank the gods for young, energetic family members...(who btw know they will receive ample compensation for a job well done...$$.... alas, whatever gets the job done.....)

Burr!!! Ok, even I think it's cold this morning....altho it wouldn't be so bad if the wind weren't kicking up a ruckus & rattling all the chimes at once (which is kinda nice too) but it is & has been most of the night! I don't really mind it like this....just needing to turn up the heat a tad just to take the chill from inside the house....makes for great sleeping too......pulling my favorite--lightweight--comforter waaay up under my chin & snuggling down deep into the 15 or so pillows I like to surround myself with.....don't forget to turn the fan on, too!! If it would just stay above 40.....
