I love it too!
Maybe there's such a thing as getting too far away for the winter to work on that writer's block.....at least make sure everyone on the guest list is still living when you decide to have a party...those voices in your head can get pretty loud sometimes. Oh, and make sure you hide that ax before the guests start arriving--that can be extremely hard on the doors....and your family....
Did you "forsee" me choosing this movie, Kat? Perhaps it was some..."force"....that brought it to you? Or maybe just one small boy?
Got a guess for me?

Yep, gettin a spectral vision here, just a moment, it's a little confusing, think it's trying to tell me something, sounds like "Misery" ....... no, hang on a sec, that's not right, I'm seeing a grand hotel, lot's of snow, a maze, and ..................... good grief, a mad leering face at the smashed in panel of a door [ scared the livin' daylights out of me ] so I reckon it must be ....................
"The Shining."
Either that or the Johnny Carson show. ;D

It scared the peepee out of me. I was in college and it was a holiday...probably Thanksgiving. (I'll have to find out the release date now) There was NO ONE in the dorm but me and the house mom...and I think she was gone that particular evening. Can you even think of a scarier scenario? Alone in a dorm--at night. What was I thinking?? I might as well have been at the Overlook with Jack and his demons. I didn't sleep. I didn't want to close my room door and I didn't want to leave it open. I knew every time I looked out that door and down that hall, they would be coming for me! It was a good scare...and great performances by Jack and Shelly.

May 23, 1980. Sure enough I was in college. Would it have been on tv by Thanksgiving of that year??

You're a brave gal, watching that under those circumstances, kinda like spending a night in a haunted house for a dare, rather you then me I reckon. Okay, try this one ............. "What goes on behind those lifeless eyes, it would surely be best not to know, but we're about to find out in the most horrific manner imaginable on ................. the night HE came home!"

OK...I have seen this movie at least once a year since it came out, so that's 18 times--not counting all the other times I have watched it on tv; it's one of my absolute all-time favorites! (And it's almost time to pull out the dvd again!!)

Thought you'd be onto that one, being the lover of all things scary that you are [ in films that is ]
Shows what can be achieved with a small budget and a fairly simple script if you have a director with some flair in charge, one of, if not the best, movie of it's type, and that score, still gives me the heebie jeebies every time I hear it.

Alrighty then....maybe one with not such a small budget....
Jealousy can be a condemning force. Better be careful whose family you take though because revenge can be a powerful motivator also. And if you get to wear a cool breast plate and a skirt, and be in the center of attention while you play out that revenge---well, all the better.

Ah'ha, thought you could trick the old fella did you, well I'm awake to your game, the answer is ................
Xena.
;D
Sheesh, I had no idea, lucky for me you tossed in that last clue, that's what gave it to me, the excellent ...............
Gladiator.
"On my signal, unleash hell" ................. and boy did they ever, an amazing opening sequence that, don't think there's a director who can match Ridley for great battle scenes.

One of the best movies ever made imo. Excellent guessing, my friend. Those first clues do sound an awlful lot that certain warrior princess that we both know and love, don't they?? Have you read at Lucy-about-town? I'de love to hear your opinions..... Oh,....and you're up!

Yep, I concur, top notch film.
Right, here we go then .......................
Be careful what you step on, for retribution may be at hand ...... "We may be witnessing the Biblical prophesy come true .... <and the insects shall inherit the earth>".

Nope, not MIB, and how can I refuse you some more clues when you ask me like that.
Much older, made in the fifties, and there was nothing funny about there creatures, if they turned up in your pantry it would be most unpleasent.

Yeah, I thought you would be all over that, one of the best of the many Sci-fi films turned out in the fifties and sixties, interesting story, excellent cast and good special effects.
I await your next film with great expectations.

Well, in my defense, it could've been a half a dozen or so films from that era...
