I was in the library today, and I always check the bulletin board for local happenings and whatnot. A pamplet in the brochere rack next to the board caught my eye. I had no idea. The title of the pamplet was "Boycott IAMS", put out by PETA.
"If you love dogs and cats don't buy Iams. The happy dogs bounding across a field in Iams dog-food commercials are light-years away from dogs in the laboratory that Iams hired to conduct nutritional studies. An undercover investigator for PETA took a job in the lab...." and found many inhuman conditions and painful invasive procedures being conducted.
"When Peta went public with this evidence, Iams officals lied and said that they had no idea what conditions were like inside the laboratory that their own staff regualary visited. Iams then cut ties with the lab.
But Iams and its owner, Procter & Gamble, still do buiness with dozens of outside laboratories that might be just as bad as the one we investigated. Iams also conducts studies on dogs and cats in its own facility, which it refuses to allow PETA representatives to see."
For a list of companies that produce pet food that is home-tested, not lab-tested, visit IamsCruelty.com.

I knew about the Iams' controversy & have seen a couple of videos...horrific & heartbreaking. Thank you for posting & adding the hook-up for the site, Gams. I have this battle of conscience every day when I feed my buddy. I want to buy the dog food that isn't made up of all the meat by-products & garbage from the slaughter houses, but to feed him the amount he requires a day would cost about $4.50/day. I wish I could say that I can afford that. Until the market is larger in the states & the price comes down, I'll have to keep buying the regular trash that Pedigree & Alpo & the others put out. I never have supported Iams, tho.

My cats wouldn't eat Iams anyway. If it's not Purina cat food, they don't like it.
