I'm sure this has been done & done again, but since it came up at work this past week, I'm going to start yet another thread on "choice eps for the non-Xenite". We all have those friends or aquaintances who just won't "see the light" or just can't grasp what it means to "get it" when it comes to the legend. Still amazes me how that legend of our beloved heroines lives on & on & on..... My skeptical friend is very musical so my first choice is: Lyre, Lyre...Help me out, sistas! (and katman!)

Well, LLHOF is a good start.
Others I would suggest:
A Day in the Life The Greater Good The Price Been There, Done That The Quill is Mightier One Against an Army

Yep, couldn't go past "A Day in the Life", just about the perfect episode I'd say.
Some others would be................
One Against an Army.
Hooves and Harlots ...... the episode that got me hooked.
Destiny.
Callisto.

Thank you, thank you. Looks like OAAA & ADITL are definitely on the list because they are two of my favs also.
Interesting that H & H was your "lock-down" ep, kat. I think that's a first for me hearing of that particular ep being so powerful.

It's interesting to see what eps "captured" everyone.
Vlad? Xengab? Gams? Add your two cents, please.
One of mine--& one I know Val will enjoy for the same reason--our medical connection, is Is There A Doc in the House?

I agree with Bardling - "Been There, Done That" is a must for a comedic flair.
Also ILB's suggestion of the Ring Trilogy. These are episodes that the two "nonbelievers" of Xena in my life - my friend who ridicules, and Hubs have both really liked. Hubs even sat through all three in one sitting - at his request...when one was done, couldn't wait to see the following.
Lyre, Lyre is one I thought they'd both like also - both of them hated it. <shrugs>
I'd stick with episodes that are "stand alone" - those that don't involve having to know anything about the characters past to understand what is going on. "Bitter Suite", while a great episode, would be too confusing to follow for a first-timer...too much of their past in it that is not apparent when watching.
One of my all time favorites...Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.
Oh - and for the totally ridiculous comedy - In Sickness and Hell.
To leave your boss wanting more - the first episode I saw, which immediately hooked me - The Ides of March.

I said the exact same thing, even tho I know her well enough to know that once she was hooked, she would love "Bitter Suite" & would no doubt repeat it until she knew every single lyric of every song. GJWHF is an all-time favorite & a good suggestion as well for IS&H. Thank you, ma'am.

Interesting that H & H was your "lock-down" ep, kat. I think that's a first for me hearing of that particular ep being so powerful. Yeah, not really sure why exactly. Thought the show was "mildly" interesting, and as I used to watch something else when it was on, I'd tape it, watch it once, then tape over it. Think it was the blend of humour and drama about H&H that grabbed me, loved Gabs entry into the Amazon ways, learning the staff, the "dancing" for want of a better word, Xena's attempts to convey a message to her through facial expressions, just really enjoyed it, and the rest, as they say, is history, another Xenite was born.
