Yeah, but not as sexually graphic as "True Blood" or the "Southern Vampire/Sookie Stackhouse" series. Which, personally, I wish HBO didn't feel it _had_ to be so graphic. Some things should be left to one's imagination. IMO anyway.
Of course, I haven't read the books, but on the "True Blood" IMDb forum there is mention that the books are more adult than the "Twilight" books. Just not as graphic as the HBO series.

No worries. No one here expects others to like everything they like. We each like what we like, and don't like what we don't like. It's all cool.

I watched the movie with Summer--it's one she picked out. I wasn't impressed (except when they tore the bad vampire apart limb from limb and the other vampire ran across the barn(?) and ripped his head off). Lol. That's about all I can remember.
Summer says the books...how many, Jox, three?...are much better than the movie.

Yeppers, 4 books. And there's more to the story than the movie tells. Alice, (the one who ripped the guys head off), is such a cool character in the books. The movie doesn't do her justice. I think a mini-series would have been better. Do like the North & South Trilogy. Each book gets its own mini-series. No cramming them all into one.
The books do tend to have an 'acquired' taste ... either you love them, or you hate them. I do agree a bit with what a lot of the naysayers say, but what they don't understand is, that Bella is Bella. I wouldn't make the choices she did, but then, I'm not Bella. As long as you don't put yourself in Bella's shoes, and read her as if she is someone separate from you, who doesn't have the same views as you do, or whose choices are vastly different than those of yours, I think you might enjoy the books. Just view her as someone you really like, but want to strangle once in a while for making choices you feel she shouldn't be making.

I guess you are right. I definitely wouldn't make the same choices she did. I'm way too much different But it's difficult to do it, I mean, the books are "written" by her, she's the one who is telling the story, and it's hard not involved yourself, and then I get very mad because Bella is too... gggrrrr hahahahaha And I hate Edward even MORE! (not only Robert Pattinson), the guy is supposed to have over 100 years, and I assume he would be more mature and wise (I don't know, like "Angel" on Buffy, you know?), but he's the absolut opposite... A "Romeo and Juliet wanna be", with all the drama hehehe The second book is the worst, and I REALLY don't understand Edward Cullen at all... However, I didn't read the books really, all I know it's because my girlfriend almost told me everthing hehehe and she's a big fan (because she loooooves all that teen drama ), so I don't want to bother with my opinion, wich maybe could change if I actually read the books (but it's veeeeery doubtful). If some boring day I'm feel in the mood to read it, then I will follow your advice and read separating myself from Bella's point of view, and it might be the solution ;D And yes... The movie (but this happens ALWAYS) it's nothing compare to the book. I know Alice's history, and it is sad, hard and very powerful, and the movie certainly doesn't do her justice. She's only a "cute vampire" who treats Bella right. Pffft! I think that the rape part and all that, might be too much for the movie, but the result is SOOOO boring, that I barely can stand it And my girlfriend bought the extended DVD with extras and stuff ppffffftt hahahahaha I hope that "New moon" be better (they have a different director, and more special effects), but knowing the fact that the 2nd book is the worst of them, I don't really have high expectations Something similar happens with Harry Potter movies I LOOOOVE (TOO MUCH!!!) the books , but I can't be more dissapointed with the movies... GRR!!!! As a single movie is entertaining, but as the adaptation of a book is a SH** Anyway, I shut up now hehehe Hugs for all! ;D

I've not read or seen the Harry Potter books/movies, so I can't comment on them. But, most of the time I like the books a whole lot better than the movie/TV adaptions. There are a few exceptions though. I like the movie, "Practical Magic" better than the book. "Ella Enchanted" ... I like things in the book that weren't in the movie, and I like things in the movie that weren't in the book. I don't like that the Prince's parents were killed in the movie, but I liked that Ella solved her own problem in the end.
And, yeah, Bella tells the story through her own eyes in the first 3 books, and in most of the 4th book, so it is kind of hard to disassociate yourself from her. So, maybe, try seeing yourself as an actress, playing a part. Bella is your role, and you must play her as written. As an actress, you wouldn't make those choices, but thankfully, you're just playing a part. Bella is not you, and you are not Bella. Except that you're her for the duration of this book/s. Should you get bored enough to read a book, see if that helps you enjoy it better.
Oooh. Or see Bella as you in an alternate universe. This you, would make those choices because you are a different you. You ARE Bella. That's pretty much how I read books. I am the main character, but I'm not me, as in real life, I'm them, in their world ... so, the choices they make, ARE the ones I would make, if I were them, in that universe. The real me may disagree, but the me that is the character is onboard with the actions. And, if I really don't like the way a book went, but I really like the characters, and I like the story somewhat overall, I rewrite it in my head to fit what I would have actually done in those circumstances. And, of course, that is how fanfic was born.
I try to keep an open mind when reading books, & watching movies or TV shows. However there are genres I just don't like: Zombies, for one. Godzilla, for another. I will avoid them at all costs. I've no clue what anyone sees in them. I think it's great that we all have different tastes and that we don't all like the same things. The "Twilight" series is a different kind of vampire story, so I can see where die-hard vampire fans would strongly disagree with this world. I'm just glad that it was available for those like me who enjoyed it.
Hugs, back at ya.
