Hello, all! Doing pretty good. Didn't do anything for Turkey Day except spend it with Ana via the web cam and phone. Helen from next door brought me over a huge plate of food and dessert and then she ate her empanadas at the same time I was eating my "traditional" dressing, green beans, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, etc. It was pretty cool. Hope everyone is doing well. It's turned pretty chilly here the past couple of days...although we did have sunshine most of the day today. I'm always thankful for the sun. Peace, love, and hugs my friends!

No cooking on Thanksgiving, Q? I was almost sure, and looking forward to coming in here and seeing what kind of scrumptious feast you whipped up. Good thing though, no cooking equals no clean-up.
"Via web-cam"; I always wondered about those things. Seems so far out of my technically challenged abilities to even register as a possibility of me ever using one. Not to mention the horrors it'd produce on the other end considering my typical appearance when I'm sitting in front of a computer.

Nope, no cooking for me this year, sis. No one around to share. The boys are in Florida and the girls don't do the Holiday thing, you know. So, I was thankful--extremely--when Helen showed up at the front door. Shhh, I even ate the turkey and ham! First time in about six years. Via web-cam"; I always wondered about those things. Seems so far out of my technically challenged abilities to even register as a possibility of me ever using one. Well, that's called reaping the benefits of Ana's extreme talents as an IT specialist (computer geek). She actually remote accesses my computer (and Mary's... and Bryan's) and has fixed it, upgraded it, pampered it, cleaned it (of viruses and such)...just about anything her "types" can do with and to a computer, she's done to mine. All the time rolling her eyes out of her head at my lack of technical abilities. That's not entirely true. I actually have learned quite a bit from her and it makes me happy when she's working because she's like a kid in a candy store. It's like when I used to cook at the cafe; gets her juices flowing and she gets all focused and productive and such. Love ya, sis.

Wow, Santa came early Jox, you must have been extra good this year. How was the film? Is that piece of sweet potato pie with my name on it still edible Gams [ does it still exist ] I don't mind if it's a little stale, or even if it's been nibbled about the edges. Glad to hear it was a good Thanksgiving for everyone. Been cool here with lots of much needed rain the past week, bad storms with quite a bit of damage in Melbourne but we missed all that here, just good steady rain.

Rain here. Turning the day a little cooler and the week as well if the weather people are right.

Well, that's one of the things I wanted for Christmas. We went to the first showing of the day and the ticket didn't cost much, so there will be things to open on the 25th of December.
Unfortunately, the 3rd movie comes out this summer, so I'll have to buy my own ticket then. Oooh, but maybe the 4th movie will be in November or December and I'll get to go as a present.
The film was okay. Not as good as the book. I'll probably like the movie better once I get the DVD and watch it again. Movies I'm really looking forward to tend to disappoint me on the first viewing, and then they grow on me once I've seen them a couple of times. (I wasn't a big fan of the 3 Pirate movies at first viewing, but each time I watch them I love them more and more. I've no idea why it works this way with some movies.) Weird how some movies have to grow on me, and others I love instantly.

Hey, Sweet Taters. Just a quick stop in again. Sheesh, it's the first of December already!!! Lots of stuff I need to get done by the end of this week and into the next. Blah. I feel stress starting to creep into the edges of my brain. I'll choose to ignore it until the last minute.
Katina, of course there's still pie left....still fresh, and without nibbles in the crust. Good thing about pie here, it's always fresh and ready whenever you want a slice....unlike the stuff that's about to grow fuzz in my refrigerator.
Isn't the way it always goes, Joxie? If you think the book is extremely good, the movie doesn't live up to your expectations, and vice-versa.
Full moon tonight, Sis. Hope you get to see it. Love ya too.
Good thing the weather people aren't always right, Angel. At least in this case. They predicted rain mixed with snow all week, but right now it's bright and sunny.
Better get out and get some roller-skiing in while I can. All that stuff I've got to do? Pfft. It can wait. Now, the sun beckons.
Enjoy your day, all.

Pretty much. The books are huge though, and if the movie had of used everything within, it would have been made into a mini-series instead. And I do hope at some point all the books do become mini-series, like the North & South trilogy did. Alice in the books is a hoot, but they leave most of her personality out of the movies.

Same here today, Angel. Most of the day yesterday was sunny, and actually quite warm for December, just as it was the day before. I look out there today, and it makes me glad a sneaked away both days for just a bit of roller-skiing before the weather turned. I've got a feeling yesterday might have been the last of it, and the roller-skis won't see the light of day until spring.
Ah well....today's a good day to stay inside, and (hopefully) get some of that stuff done I've been meaning to get to lately.
Later, Sweet Taters.

Hello everyone! I guess Winter has arrived for us all because is the same here today...and yesterday, for that matter. We actually had some sleet in certain areas. I only saw lots of cold and gloomy rain. Oh well, at least I still have the sun in my heart and we did have a great Fall season... I am in the middle of cleaning--the house and the garage--trying to get ready for my new roomie. He's coming either Monday or Tuesday. It's a friend whose partner died suddenly of a massive heart attack (at age 50) about a month ago. They were getting ready to move back up here from Florida when it happened, so Frank is going ahead with the move because he has all his friends and support group here. Ironic how things happen, you know? I'm thinking there's a reason fate has brought us together at this time. Maybe there's something I have learned in the past 13 months that can be a help to him right now. Gotta run! Love you all!

Winter has most definitely arrived. We've got snow! By now, everyone here knows how much I love snow, but dang it....all those errands I put off yesterday because it was raining.... Pfft! I knew I shouldn't have waited until today. Just got back from taking BP to school; the rain froze when the snow fell, and it's a messy ice-skating rink out there, without a zamboni (or salt truck) in sight.
Hoping all goes well with the arrival of your new house mate, Q. Tough road he's on now, I'm sure, and if you're able to help him a bit as he stumbles down it, then maybe there is something to that fate thing. Love ya.
Snow-covered hugs for all, and to all a good day. Later, Taters.

The cat's water dish had ice on top, so it is definitely getting colder here too. And I had to walk to Mom's and back because the battery died on my car. Why couldn't it have been a warmer day? Well, at least it wasn't 30 below. brrrr.

Beautiful here today. Bright sunshine and 40-ish. I can stand that. Not so lucky tonight...it's brrrrr-cold! No snow yet, tho. I usually only want snow on Christmas Eve thru New Year's Day. That's plenty for me.
Taking my turn house and pet-sitting for the boys (who are enjoying 80-degree weather in Florida until the 17th). It's very beautiful down here on the river, as usual, looking out across to the downtown Louisville skyline. The lights are dancing on the water and it's gorgeous. Always makes me a little melancholy tho, being down here. I always expect to see Mary sitting in her spot on the front porch or coming through the back door of the cafe. Well, I don't really expect to see her, but I always look...and imagine that she's there. I guess I always will. I believe her spirit will always find its way back here now and again. She loved this place so much and I believe some of the happiest moments of her life were spent right here...right downstairs, brewing her teas and watching the river.
*Sigh*
Peace and love, my friends.
