"War Child"
Who will save the war child baby? Who controls the key? The web we weave is thick and sordid, Fine by me.
At times of war we're all the losers, There's no victory. We shoot to kill and kill your lover, Fine by me.
War child, victim of political pride. Plant the seed, territorial greed. Mind the war child, We should mind the war child.
I spent last winter in New York, And came upon a man. He was sleeping on the streets and homeless, He said, "I fought in Vietnam."
Beneath his shirt he wore the mark, He bore the mark with pride. A two inch deep incision carved, Into his side.
War child, victim of political pride. Plant the seed, territorial greed. Mind the war child, We should mind the war child.
Who's the loser now? Who's the loser now? We're all the losers now. We're all the losers now.

heard this the other day....been stuck in my head ever since....i wonder why??

Rod Stewart Ordered to Pay for Vegas Show Sep 8, 09:29 AM EDT By KEN RITTER - Associated Press Writer
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A federal jury decided Wednesday that Rod Stewart should pay a Las Vegas casino $2 million plus interest for a canceled show in December 2000.
The seven-member panel found that Stewart should not have kept an advance he was paid for the New Year's weekend show that he said he was unable to perform at the Rio hotel-casino because of throat surgery several months earlier.
One of his lawyers, Kerry Garvis Wright, said outside U.S. District Court that the 60-year-old singer will appeal.
Steve Morris, a lawyer for the Las Vegas casino and parent company Harrah's Entertainment, said he was "delighted and relieved" by the verdict.
Jury foreman Stevan Jorgensen, 56, said the case boiled down to a misunderstanding of the contract between the British rocker and the casino.
"We felt it was only fair," he said, "that if Mr. Stewart didn't perform the concert that he should give the money back."
The jury deliberated about three hours Wednesday after nearly two weeks of testimony in the civil breach-of-contract lawsuit.
Stewart was paid $2 million in advance in January 2000 for the December 2000 show.
He and his doctors testified he was later diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had two tumors surgically removed in May 2000. One was cancerous, one was benign.
Stewart, who was not in the courtroom Wednesday, said that he didn't fully recover his trademark raspy voice in time for the Las Vegas show.
He did recover in time to begin a world concert tour in June 2001, and estimated he has performed 150 shows since. But he said Harrah's would not let him reschedule the December 2000 show.
Harrah's chief executive Gary Loveman testified that a makeup show on any other date could not provide the same monetary benefit to the casino as a show on New Year's weekend.
The interest on the $2 million was not determined.

Got em! Listened, and can't wait to hit the trail in the morning; thinking this'll be perfect for the glide as well as the drive! Oh man, nobody's gonna slow me down, and I should probably invest in one of those parachute thingies they put on the back of drag racing cars, or I'll completely miss NC and end up in the Gulf of Mexico.
Oh - and Hubs would not have minded picking the package up from the post office - no Xena pictures on the envelope, and those are the cause of his eye rolls. Not a fan. Pfft.
Thank you, Ladies.

No, no, no MG. The Drive was perfect for the glide! A bit harder and faster, yes, but sometimes ya just gotta go all out. And get tired of listening? Never.
The Drive II though...I can't get it to play on either of my disc players or the DVD player. Haven't tried the computer yet, but I've a feeling it'll be the same. The little display thingy says "No Disc" or "reading" and then "error" when I pop it in.
Wrong route for the drive. OH through WV then down to NC. You think if I were headed the Louisville way that I wouldn't end up on your doorstep smelling that fabulous cooking you all talk about?

Jackson: Full Speed Ahead on Katrina Song Sep 17, 06:30 PM EDT By LINDA DEUTSCH - AP Special Correspondent
In his first talk with a reporter since the end of his criminal trial, pop superstar Michael Jackson said Saturday he is "moving full speed ahead" on plans to record a song for the benefit of Hurricane Katrina victims and feels that his creative juices are flowing again.
In a telephone call to The Associated Press, Jackson said the trial was "the hardest thing I've ever done in my life" and that he and his children were still in Bahrain "resting and recovering" from the ordeal.
Jackson said he has been at work on the charity song, tentatively titled, "From the Bottom of My Heart."
"I'm constantly working on it," he said.
Also on the line was Raymone K. Bain, Jackson's spokeswoman. She said the call would not be a full-fledged interview, and that Jackson just wanted to make contact to express his thanks for what he said was the AP's fair coverage of his trial.
Jackson has been staying in Bahrain as the guest of Prince Abdulla, the son of the king of Bahrain. Of his friend Prince Abdulla, he said, "He's the very best, amazing, so kind."
Asked about his health, Jackson said, "I'm feeling good." The singer had said during his trial that he was plagued by back problems.
Jackson was acquitted of child molestation in June after a five-month trial in Santa Maria, Calif. He has not appeared in public since and has spent much of his time in Bahrain.
Jackson wants the charity anthem to follow the success of the 1984 worldwide hit "We Are the World," which he co-wrote to benefit African starvation victims. Bain has said many artists have agreed to join the project, but the lineup hasn't been finalized.

Fans Boo Madonna and Husband After Snub LONDON (AP) - Fans booed Madonna and her filmmaker husband, Guy Ritchie, at the London premiere of his new movie, "Revolver," on Tuesday after the couple walked past most of the crowd without signing autographs. The movie's star, Jason Statham, spent nearly an hour signing autographs in Leicester Square, but Madonna and Ritchie had only brief contact with the crowd of some 2,000 fans. They then posed for photographs before going into the theater.
Madonna, 47, wore a black sequined Roberta Cavalli tuxedo dress with her arm in a matching sling. Last month, she suffered three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken hand in a horse riding accident at her country home outside London.
The pop star said it was Ritchie's night and she enjoyed not having to work the red carpet. "This is fun for me. I get to dress up and show up," she said.
Critics have been scathing of "Revolver," but Ritchie, 37, defended the movie.
"The critics have been harsh all the way through my career but it doesn't affect me. I've accepted the rules of the game," said the director, who made the hit 1998 movie, "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch."
Asked why he didn't give Madonna a role in "Revolver," he replied: "Do you think they would let me get away with that? I did that last time, it didn't work."
Their collaboration, "Swept Away," bombed at the box office and was panned by critics.
