Proboards has been having a problem with ads of late. Members seem to be getting viruses from them. They disabled the ads for a while, but now have them back up. If you're having a problem with viruses when you come here, you need to create an account at the Support Forum and complain in this thread.
Sorry. There's nothing Q & I can do about it. The only way to get rid of ads is to pay Proboards to make this forum ad-free. I'm not sure if this makes the forum ad-free for all members, or just the ones forking out the money. I'm guessing it's all members, as there's an option where the admin can allow guests to view the forum ad-free, or have them see ads and only members are allowed ad-free.
Q & I admin for free. We don't get any of the money going to proboards, so it makes us no nevermind if you choose not to pay to remove the ads. Only do so if they are bothering you and you'd like to be rid of them. No hurt feelings on our part, I assure you.

I got rid of my ads with Adblock Plus. The forum loads a lot faster than it did before.

Q: In case you don't get back to Whoosh:
If you don't use Firefox, download and use it just for Proboards. Then get the Adblock Plus addon. Watch the status bar at the bottom of the window and write down the URLs that hang up the page and block them with Adblock Plus.
Links such as:
googleads.g.doubleclick.net/* partner.googleadservices.com/* pigeon1.vbanalytics.com/* input.insights.gravity.com/*
The last two were majorly slowing down my page, and when I blocked one of the Google links (not sure if it's one of the first two or not), the ads completely disappeared. Sometimes an image URL will hang, but not as long as those last two links did.

You're very welcome.
You can also add those links to your anti-virus, firewall, and browser's block lists. Those options don't work as well as the Adblock Plus, but they do help.

Windows Defender - (from Microsoft.com), will help prevent & block the false pop-ups from the fake anti-virus alerts. It's free.
If you believe your machine is affected by malicious software or potentially unwanted software, you can use Microsoft Security Essentials or another up-to-date scanning and removal tool to detect and remove malware or other potentially unwanted software from your computer.
