OK...big change of pace here...
This epic film played host to a huge cast of bigger than life names. A story of love and envy and revenge....sort of an "Antony and Cleopatra" ride large in the saddle.
One well-known bad boy's last film.

Get the feeling there's some cryptic clues hiding in there, think you're tryin' to say this one was large, maybe even bigger then large, possibly on a "Giant" scale, now, what could it be?

OK...Man is bored and drunk in a small rural town. This equals bad decision concerning parking meters. Man ends up on chain gang, but refuses to give in to the "man". Man gets tummy ache along the way eating too many eggs. "A failure to communicate" or conform to the rules leads man to bad outcome at an abandoned church.
One of the best movies ever made.

Looks like you're in "Paul Newman" mode at the moment, at least this one was a tad better then the one under discussion in the other thread, very good film indeed, really enjoyed "Strother Martin" in it .......................
Cool Hand Luke.

You're making me look good with your clues champ.
Okay, try this one on for size .................
Never befriend the man you may shortly have to execute.
Consumed with guilt at having caused the death of his prisoner, he travels to England to honour an undertaking, to see the dead mans loved one, only to fall under "her" spell himself.
His violent past reaches out for him, placing them both in deadly peril, can they survive, will his secret from the past be revealed, and what is the shocking secret of his new love.

Okay, not an American film, although on of the guys [ the one who dies early on ] was American, it's an Irish/British cast.
It was the first role for the leading "lady" and "her" secret was the main talking point of the film.
Any help?

Alrighty, Maeve!! Are you there?? How are your movie skills?? Time to pay your membership dues. Actually, I'm just kidding about the dues part...but I could use some help here. Let's see if we can call out some reinforcements, Kat, before you give up any more clues. I'll keep studying. Sometimes it takes a little longer when you're old like me.

Right here I go then, the main guys violent past was as a member of the IRA, his prisoner at the beginning of the film [ African American ] was played by an actor who was recently in a film in which he and three others terrorised Jodie Foster and her daughter in their own home, and the big twist in the film concerned the leading lady, suffice to say she was no lady.
Hope that helps, I'm runnin' out of clues.

By the gods...
The Crying Game??
I have never seen it, btw. I'm just guessing it because I know Forest Whitaker was in Panic Room and I know he was in this one, as well. Actually I think I did see parts of it...it was too dark and depressing for my tastes.

Yep, that's the one, really good film, you should try watching it sometime, it's really quite moving in a way. I remenber when I first saw it I thought the character of Dil was pretty hot stuff, you can imagine my surprise when the revelation came [ do you know what it was ] and I thought, allo allo allo, I think I've just crossed over to the other side.
