Any "Dexter" devotees here, anybody? somebody? excellent show and I'd like to get some feedback about it, but then again maybe a show where the hero is a serial killer isn't everyones cup of tea.

We've watched it the first couple of Sundays it was on...but I couldn't get into it. Maybe I wasn't paying attention enough...
I got he's a sk, but is another sk messing with him? And the police do not know that he's a sk...is that it?
I couldn't really warm up to him-the actor, I think, more than the role. From the sounds of you two TV connoisseurs, we maybe should give it another go...or at least start over with the reruns.

I hate when I can't edit a post due to some sort of glitch. I wanted to delete the that is hanging out for no reason. Okay Q: Dexter's foster father was a cop. He recognized the serial killer qualities in Dexter and took him under his wing to keep him from killing innocent people. Since they claim you can't cure a s/k, his foster father thought the next best thing would be for him to kill only those who deserve it. Those that keep slipping out of the jail time they so richly deserve. He taught a young Dexter how to find proof that the person is indeed guilty of all the claims against them, and how to find other crimes he committed that are still unknown to the police. Once he knows the truth, he is allowed to 'take them out' to save future innocents. His 'sister' is the daughter of his foster father, and she's a bit jealous of all the time _her_ father spent with Dexter teaching him how to hide his true nature, and how to kill and dispose of bodies and not get caught. (Being a good father, he didn't want his son to go to jail for something he has no control over. Something done to him in his past that has made him this way ... something he can't change. --According to the experts.) And nopers. No one else knows of his secret. (Except the other s/k.) And yeppers, another s/k has figured him out and is toying with him. And of course a part of Dexter is enjoying the game ... while another part is scared this cat and mouse game could get him caught. You might not like the actor because he's trying to be true to the profile of serial killers. Aloof. Unfeeling. Awkward. ...

The show came out on Showtime a while back. Season One is out in DVD now, and the second season should be out some time or other.
They're re-airing the show on free TV to get viewers to subscribe to Showtime, and to sell the DVDs. Which I guess is a good thing since I didn't check it out earlier.

Think you'll have a hard time liking it if you can't take to the lead actor, as he's front and center for probably 90% of the show. Where are you at with it Jox, just screened episode seven of season two here last week, and things are starting to move apace, gonna be a bit of retribution meted out next ep I think.

Season 1, Episode 8: Shrink Wrap ... was the episode this past Sunday night. It aired on Showtime in 2006, but I never got around to checking it out. So I'm way behind you. I may just rent the seasons from Netflix. I'm sure free TV edited out quite a bit of the good stuff.

Lucky you Jox, got a lot more to see yet. The ending of season one is excellent, throws up a few surprises as well, and I was wondering how season two would fare against it, but have come to the conclusion now that it's actually getting better, tonights ep is gonna be a doozie by the look of the trailer..
I'm thinking you'll have to rent it though, free to air would chop it to pieces surely, reckon every time Dex's sister opens her mouth there would be an edit, that gal sure likes to drop an expletive or three.

Yeah, I should have checked it out when I saw the commercials for it on Showtime. But I didn't think a show seen through the eyes of a serial killer would be all that much fun to watch. (thinking of watching innocent victims die -- no fun in that viewpoint at all) But when it came to free TV, it aired after Cold Case and I was already on that channel and sitting on the sofa ... so I said, "What the hay, I'll give it one try."
Then when I found out he was a "good" bad guy. Well, that changed everything. Now, in real life I wouldn't wish a serial killer on anyone, but there are times (in the back of my mind) when I think, "That person/s should get what's coming to 'em." Me bad.

OK, we're all into the double eps tonight. I like him so much more with longer hair. Go figure. Anyway, it's got my attention now.

Way to go champ, knew you'd finally see the light. What are you watching, the first season? Jox you must be about at the end of season one now, one ep left? Hang on, just checking those dates again I'd guess it's finished now? The final episode of season two here tonight, no idea how it's all going to play out but it's gonna be a cracker methinks, with several scenarios that could happen. Really, REALLY hanging out for a third [ and fourth, fifth etc.etc ] season, though not really sure if there are plans to continue it, be a crying shame if they don't, best thing to hit the small screen for a long while.

I was thinking they were going for the third season on Showtime this fall (autumn). I'm pretty sure I've seen commercials for it. Hopefully I can be all caught up and start season 3 at the beginning. I'm gonna see if/when season two comes out on DVD and rent both 1 & 2 from Netflix.com. I like the bonus stuff sometimes. Sometimes not.
Anyhoo, season one ended with the last two eps showing last Sunday night. (The brother. Yeah. Poor Dex.)

And you're right Jox, there is going to be a third season thank the gods.
Ya seen season two yet?
I missed season two on Showtime, but I noticed last night they played the last two eps of season one, so I'm hoping I still have time to watch season two before season three airs.
I have noticed the show airing across from "Army Wives" so I just have to remember to find the other times it airs so I can catch it.

They repeat pretty regularly so there's probably a good chance you'll get to see season two before the new series starts, they just ran season one in double episodes on Saturday nights here.
Just watched the first episode of a new show last night called "Durham County" looks promising, you seen it?
