LMAO. It certainly is purple in here...right down to the holiday lights on the porch railing. Love the avatar, Q; it's beautiful. Is it one of your own, with the river and Louisville skyline in the background?
We had flurries all day yesterday. It was pretty with flakes gently wafting down, and nothing like the sideways snow of Friday. Today though, the sun shines!
Sunny wishes for everyone.

I know! Purple's my favorite color...hard to guess?? No, sis, I can't take credit for the picture. Just saw it and thought it was so "me". I'm still not much in the decorating spirit again this year. I spent the entire weekend cleaning the house--Frank will be arriving tomorrow sometime--and not sure how much of the holiday spirit he will have since losing Gary just six weeks ago. I hung some happy face lights wearing Santa hats in his room and I put up my little three-foot fiber optic tree in the living room. That's probably all I'll do this year. Love and hugs to all.

Nine days into Summer here and it;s been cool and showery for most of them, not that I'm complaining about that, the heat will arrive soon enough and "then" I'll have something to whinge about. Hope Frank is settling in champ, sorry to hear about his loss. Oh yeah almost forgot, I'm liking the purple and the new avatar as well.

Howdy Jox, you thawed out from that walk to your Mom's yet?

Kat: I think I might be. I had to get out in the rain today. Mom is back from her trip to New York, so I don't have to get her mail and feed her dog anymore. And I'm still thankful it wasn't 30 below 0 that day. brrrr

Some weird-@ss weather we've had here. It started to snow like the banshees were let loose last night, and sometime between then and this morning, the temperatures rose and the snow turned to rain. Now, the wind is blowing fiercely and it's unbearable to even stand on the porch while letting the dog out.
I feel bad for the neighbor lady and the Salavation Army; they had a pickup scheduled for our street today, and she put all her boxes of stuff on the curb for them to take last night before the snow started. It's all a wet, soggy mess now. I put my stuff on the front porch, out of the weather - I hope they see it; I spent hours yesterday going through boxes of the girls' outgrown things, and would hate to have to lug them back down to the basement until the next time.
Speaking of lugging...hope your aching muscles are more relaxed, Q - I read somewhere that you had a time of it, getting your roomate's stuff into the house. Hope he's settled in a bit.
Gotta scootch...need to get to the grocery before all this slushy stuff turns to ice. (and not just that panic I-must-stock-up-on-bread-and-milk trip that many make before a storm; Wednesday is usually my planned grocery day, but how much you wanna bet I'll find no milk and bread at the store.)

Ok, that was ridiculous. Not only were the bread and milk running low (the brands I buy anyway), they didn't have the orange juice or butter brands we get either. Saltine crackers? There was a sale - the shelves were empty. The dog food Quetta likes? Good thing she's got about half a bag left. Shoot, considering what's happened in parts of the Midwest, it looks like everyone in town made a trip to the grocery; I've never seen our store so busy.
Howling winds, and sleet mixed with hard frozen pebbles is falling now in sheets. It looks like the storm is coming this way.

At one point the rain sounded like ice hitting my bathroom skylights. I gotta admit I freaked out a bit. 15 days without electricity has me a bit 'gun' shy. Not looking forward to doing that again anytime soon.

Wow...lots of nasty weather here and there. I feel very lucky. We had bitter cold and 55 mph winds for a couple of days and a dusting of snow one morning, but other than that, it's been just sunny and seasonably cool. Sorry you had to get in that mess at the supermarket, Gams. Frank has settled in for the most part. What a joy living with a gay man...so neat and tidy. His room is of course, the nicest-looking one in the house now...and his "ways" make me pay a little closer attention to doing my part. Not that I'm a slob or anything, but I will let a couple of dirty glasses and a fork lay in the sink for more than a day. He even straightened up the shelf in the utility room that hasn't been touched probably since it was hung six years ago! There's actually some more room to put "stuff" now! Thank you for your consideration, Kat. I passed along the condolences and he was touched. Well, I'm still working on "my part" of restoring some sort of order to the house. Frank having so much stuff has kinda prompted me to clean out some places that haven't been touched since Mare. And I finally took down her robe from the back of the bathroom door. "A time and a season for everything", I guess. Peace, love, and warm woobies for everyone! (flip-flops for you, Kat!)

Thanks, Jox. I'll let him know. I don't think he's on the computer much right now. He has a laptop, but I haven't seen him on it since he's been here. I just set up Gary's computer for Ana to remote access to get pictures and stuff later today. I think he's giving the whole thing to Gary's parents tomorrow. Howdy Xengab! Always a pleasure to see you stopping by.

I've always wondered about that gay man neatness thing. LMAO - my friend swears his house gets messy, especially during our busiest time at the nursery when it's all we can do to drag ourselves home and fall into the doorway. But every single time I've been to his house, it's been neat as a pin, even down to the artfully drapped throw blanket over the back of the couch, (when he's not looking, I always mess it up a bit so it's not so artifully draped anymore). And all the gay men that come into the nursery - a lot of them our biggest customers - you just know their gardens have got to be as perfect as the interiors of their houses.
Surely there's gotta be a gay male slob out there somewhere?
Maybe they just let their slobdom come out in other ways, in other places. Back to my friend - we always tease him how can someone be so neat and nitpicky, but be a complete slob while he's at work. He'll leave something like fifteen mugs with just a bit of cold, nasty tea at the bottom, dirty eating utensils on the breakroom table, along with the left-over fruit and vegetable remains that he plans to eventually - one day soon - throw in the compost pile. It's gross; I put a big sign in red lettering over the breakroom table that read, "Please clean up your dirty cups, dishes, utensils, half-eaten food, banana peels or any other ant fodder from the breakroom". He was mad at me for a week. Coats and hats are strewn all over the nursery, and he can never find his gloves, because he leaves them everywhere. Pruners? Scissors? I'll find them months later, hiding in the rows of shrubs because that's where he last had them before he moved on to something else. He's worse than following a kid around, and picking up after them.
HA! Maybe there is actually such thing as a gay slob; he is it, and it's his partner who does that artful arranging. I shall have to mention this next week....right after I mess up his artifully arranged throw blanket.
