I love having you around. You get me. Getting to mile 10.5 of my 11-mile trip from work this morning and finding fuel prices at my station did not jump .22 overnight! It's the little things.

Oh, and the really big sigh...<really big sigh>...my go-to girl at work turned down her job offer! It's the big things as well. Does this mean you can start slacking off again? ;D Just kiddin' of course, but seriously that's great news, you must be relieved. Appears that things are looking up, what with this, your truck and furnace fixed and finding cheap fuel, you're on a winning streak.

Yes, Katman, there are blessings everyday. Sometimes they just seem a little harder to recognize.

For my friends who finally got their winter fix. May you jones no longer! I'm assuming there is no school in Michigan this morning. So...will there be opportunity for a ski this morning or is it party-day at home? Enjoy and stay warm!! Make sure you keep those ears covered. And I'm sending you all some Echinacea and Goldenseal to ward off those colds---take it!

No school? You've got to be kidding; I can't remember our kids ever having a snow-day.....every district around us will be closed, but ours. Fog-days - those we have. The Interstate was shut down yesterday - no visibility, but this morning all is clear.
No skiing today though - late morning appointment, and then I've got a job to tackle: the mud-room. Gobs of kids in-and-out all weekend; it's strewn with hats, mittens, boots - some of which I've got no idea to whom they belong - snow-fort building equipment, and because the room is unheated, clods of snow. I'll have to wade my way through the mess just to get BP out the door, and on her way to school....which I've got to do shortly.
Goregous picture, Q; that's what it looked like here. I'll be dreaming as I clean the aftermath.

Getting through two very tuff 12-hour nights at work and then getting to go get your hair cut when it's so long and unruly that you have done the ponytail-thru-the-cap thing all week rather than pull it out by the roots! And especially this morning. I had to pull it up before it got good and dry last night and it is ich-ING this morning...and my part is all tender too! Off we go with our two $10-off coupons in hand to get beautified! Smooches all....and Happy Saturday!

I have been bumming the loss of my flowers - the daffodils that are my favorite and everything else in my yard that has been beaten and withered by the wind, turned to mush by the frost, and now sits buried under a fresh three inches of snow that started this morning and shows no signs of letting up. Bumming is too mild a term actually; I have been mourning them.
Today, a knock at the door - the mudroom door; inside the house. "What fresh hell is this?", I wondered, (my new favorite quote from Dorothy Parker).
Flowers! Hubs sent them - a sympathy bouquet to ease my pain and suffering over my loss. Iris, goldenrod, deep-purple asters, tiny yellow mums, pale pink and yellow snap-dragons, apricot something-I-don't-know-that-it-is's, and a single red rose.
I love flowers.

Now even I let out a great big sigh for such a tender and thoughtful gesture. Classy move from that man of yours, Gams.

Not that I'm insinuating that Hubs is a squirrel or anything....

LMAO. Hubs and squirrels - definitely a bad combo. He's at war with the ones in our yard. That cute picture with the little guy holding flowers in his cute little paws was taken in our yard, yes? It's an all too familiar sight. They gnaw off everything - just to taste; they don't actually eat them blooms. They dig up my bulbs. They've torn up more bird feeders than I can count, (Hubs, in his never-ending battle, has tried to foil the enemy by greasing the pole the feeder sits on). They bury walnuts in my flower boxes, digging up the flowers in the process.
If this is not bad enough; and it probably wouldn't be, because it's my stuff; they also get into his stuff: his garage, his veggie garden, his grill, and his blueberry bushes, which haven't produced but a few handfuls of berries in the last couple years, because the squirrels gnaw off the buds.
At least they keep him busy; he'd probably be disappointed if they gave up and left, and he couldn't scheme ways to get rid of them anymore.

Now...we were right there beside the creek with the little tiny waterfall (had to be tiny if it was a creek, I would imagine...lol) and you wouldn't even entertain the thought of going swimming....said "It's way too cold, baby!!
Does this mean you have changed your mind?

Sounds like fun. Hope you two had a great time.
Mary, my Earbud Bud. I have found the cure for those buds that keep falling out! No more frustation! I clip the wires to my shirt neckline with one of those, (I'm not sure what they're called exactly), paper-clip thingies - the kind that you squeeze the metal doo-hickies, and the "mouth" opens like an alligater and snaps shut when you let go, (I'm not explaining this very well, am I?) The clip keeps the wires from pulling everytime you move your head, and the buds stay in place! I've gone roller-skiing twice using this, and haven't had to stop once to replace fallen buds. Bliss.

Before I get any farther into this post, go ahead and take another look at where I decided to put it. As of 7 AM Monday, I am no longer a Labcorp employee after nearly 13 years! At first you might think that being forty-something, unemployed, and with absolutely no idea what comes next good enough reason to make a body want to pull out their hair by the roots. I could be looking at it that way, I guess. I choose not to. The Reader's Digest version of this little turning point in my life goes something like...."overworked, under-appreciated, tired of third shift, frustrated beyond repair"...yada, yada, blah, blah... Time to make some changes!! Anyhoo, I am in a strange place right now. Too strange to try and sort it out and share here with you all at this time. I do know I am taking a little time off before tackling the task of my new life-direction. I drove today. For four hours, I drove...and listened to loud, angry music, of course. I rented a cabin on a lake at a kinda-near state park for the weekend and I intend on using the space to relax and clear my head. There will be no schedules, no phones, no work clothes and lots of soul-searching from a comfy lounge chair....and more loud, angry music, of course. (Well, not too loud after "Park Quiet Time" at 10 PM.) Sometimes people make the wrong choices for what seem like the right reasons to them at the time. Usually those kinds of decisions come with consequences. Sometimes this opens new doors with infinite possibilities...OK, before I become a walking cliche, let's just say I'm focusing on this being the beginning of a fabulous new adventure for the second half of my life. That being said, if anyone has any job offers they want to toss out for me, feel free to crank out a new thread. (But not until after the weekend, please!)
