Thank you so much. I was in the ballpark, but hadn't quite figured it out yet. And I thought it seemed like it was happening a lot more often than it used to.

But you're probably right. If it has to be changed while websurfing, it's less of a hassle just to slide back and forth when you need to.

Yeah ... it's like how the TVs have gone wider than they used to be. So I guess the websites are just trying to use that wideness to their advantage.

You don't have to switch it back and forth. You can leave it at the larger setting. I just don't like it because the icons shrink. Or they did on the old computers whenever I went to a higher resolution. I prefer the larger icons. Perhaps I overlooked a way to make the icons larger. Anyhoo, I didn't feel like hassling with it, so I left the resolution at 800x600 pixels.

Yeah. If smaller icons don't bother you as much as sliding back and forth does, go with the higher resolution.

I keep mine set at the lower resolution too; I prefer the bigger icons. LX and BP though, visit sites that require the screen to be set at high resolution - some of the controls on the games they play don't show up on a screen set on low resolution.
They are suppose to change the setting back to the way I had it when they're done, but if they forget, and I think what-the-hell, I'll just leave it this way, here and Whoosh looks all squished together to me - there's that wasted margin on either side.
The only time I've ever had to scroll left to right at either site is in a thread that has a large picture or a Youtube press the button to play thingy.
The nursery website is meant to be viewed with a high resolution setting. It bugged me that I had to scroll to see the whole thing, and I asked my co-worker why she set it up that way. She has a web-design business on the side, and her explanation was that most people prefer and use the higher resolution. <shrugs> Not the first time I've done things differently than most people.

Me either, gams.
I've come across sites that were too wide, and yet didn't have scroll bars where I could slide over to click on a button, or link. I usually closed them. It never occurred to me to reset the screen resolution for that brief moment.

Oh, BTW, sometimes the screen will widen if you've increased the size of the font. If that is the case, just hold down the 'Ctrl' key and hit the minus key to decrease the font size. That should put the page back to normal.

And not only that, I got the pixel thing right on my computer. The icons are good and I don't have to scroll.
You know--the little things...
Okay ... so how'd ya do it? Scrolling does get on my nerves ... just not enough to go with the small icons.

1024 x 768 is what works on my screen. And I don't think I've had to scroll at any stie. I just kept changing it until it was like I wanted.

hmmm ... I could have sworn I've tried that setting before and the icons were too small for my tastes. Perhaps I'll try it later on.

Hi! If you still need help with the screen resolution and icon size. You can settle the correct screen resolution (wich now is 1024 x 768 minimum) AND have a big size for the icons ;D First you set the resolution (right button - properties - settings) Then in "Appearance" (I don't know if say that in English version, but is next to Settings), you can click on "Effects" button. Finally mark the check box who say: "Use big icons" And that's it ;D Now... I have a question How can I make "bigger" my avatar? I mean bigger than 100x100 px Like Fallenangel or Gams who has a bigger avatar. I try to set the W x H but it doesn't works Any ideas? ;D

Pfft. You know I'm lost. Ana, Joxcee is the one that you need to hook up with for all that. She's good. Mary and her together could figure anything out. I'm useless.

Members can't increase their avatars beyond 100x100 ... But, admins can upload whatever size image they want onto the Avatars list, and it shows up in its normal size. So, FA & Gams are using avatars from the forum's list, and not their own.
And, I did make the switch, and I'm now used to the small icons. I might try enlarging them later on ... but for now, I think I'll go with it as is. Thanks for the info, I had forgotten that the icon size could be increased & decreased.
I do love that I get more on the screen now. Especially with Word, and other software.

Quetta told me that you are an administrator as well, so could you think it's posible that you upload my image onto the Avatars list a little bigger?? Let's say 150 x 150 px??
Thank you in advanced!! ;D
