How cool is this to be locking up our first 100 pages here at the tavern! Go on, take a bow, the faithful few...Jox, Katina, Gams, Bardling, Fallen Angel, Xengab and Vlad--you all are our friends...and also a thank you to the others who ocassionally take the time to share their thoughts and opinions. We invite you back because we miss you when you're gone! Drinks are on the house!

Jox said... According to this... Scorpion Stings and all other sites I researched, I think we're OK--until we go back out West. Seems that little guy out there packs a pretty big punch. And then 'angel said... I didn't remember your son and #2 having the same birthday. She turned 14 today. Things were kinda low key today...I made her a cd, but she had already gotten her gifts--mainly because Mary can't wait after #1 has her day just three weeks earlier. They have always gotten the same big gift, I think, so #2 always knows what's coming. I wish I had been at that creek with you all. It sounds like it was a good day...

Wow, a hundred pages already, time flies when you're havin' fun don't it?
Congratulations to everybody, reckon we've done a great job and should all give ourselves a pat on the back; a big thanks also to MG and ILB for providing such a great place to hang out, and as the drinks are on the house I'll lash out and order a Pina Colada thanks.
Birthday wishes to Daughter number one and also to Angels son, hope they were both great.

My first stop in the new place to grab my to-go cup.
Hope Daughter's and Son's birthdays were good ones.
Even though the place is different, some things never change....
....I've run out of time again this morning as usual.
Enjoy your weekend, all you Sweet Taters.

Pina Colada, Kat, when you are in the dead of your winter?! Better pull those blankets up closer. I actually washed that coffee pot out good before bringing it over from the old place, Gams. I hope it still has its character this morning. Everyone have a great weekend and try not to be strangers... Happy "Proud to be...Me!" Festival, Everyone

It's great to see Evil Gaby back...I was missing her. Congrats on the "maturing" of Heshe. How long before you can tell if it is a "he" or a "she"? American Softshell Turtles matures when they've reached 8-10 years, since they get 50 years old. But you can tell earlier, when you compare the shell, plastron and tail. The female has in almost every turtle species an much plainer shell than the male, a shorter tail which reaches very often (or not even) only to the end of the shell. It's somehow unbelieveble, but the first half year is already over again. And in a month the holidays for the kids start here again. Last week both brought a certificate home for good work at school and we were very proud of them. Have a nice day everybody! Bye, bye.

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Sorry I have been scarce the past couple of days. Our weekend was great--always good when the girls are away. Not that I don't love the girls, but they are too old now for us to "set them up" with entertainment and they act like they are too young to entertain themselves--like they have to always be going somewhere or spending $ to be anything but "bored to death". I can't stand it. They have books, bikes, skates, a trampoline, a basketball goal, crafts, guitars, music, dvd players, mp3 players, etc... The list goes on, but they can never find anything "to do". Pfft. Let me even suggest that I was bored when I was that age...well, when I was their ages, I had a job, but neither of them is mature enough to have a paying job. One is too lazy and the other one likes to take every short cut imaginable. #1 will work harder trying to find short cuts to doing a good job than to just do the job the best she can to start with. Always some excuse as to why she couldn't do it right the first time I'm kinda grumpy this morning, methinks. Oh well, off to the library. They use that as an excuse to get me out of the house and then think I am carting them all over town once I am out. Pfft again. Neither of them have any $ this morning, so really no point in going anywhere else, wouldn't you say? Have a great day...I'll be back with a better attitude.

Yikes, is it safe to come in, looks like someone got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning. ;D Know what ya mean though; things were pretty tight when my brother and I were kids, and there were none of the things that kids take for granted nowadays, yet I can honestly say I can never remember being bored, we always managed to amuse ourselves in the simplest ways, having a game of cricket in the street with the other neighbourhood kids, kicking a footy around, reading, drawing, going to the flicks on a Saturday arvo, always seemed to be something to do. Anyway, when you return with your "better attitude" I expect a full report on the weekend and the Pride Festival, that should give ya something to do. I'm off to bed now, hope everyone is having/had a great day, catch up again shortly.

I think it's safe to come out today... You can actually breathe outside this morning, so I'm thinking it's already a better day than yesterday. It has been soooo humid---and still--not a breeze to be found. The heaviness of the Summer Breeze song posted at "Catch..." really is indicative of how the atmosphere here has been since before the weekend. This morning is beautiful; let's hope it continues throughout the day! The Pride Festival was...what is a good term...weak, drab, unorganized...for a group of people known for their flashiness and flamboyance, we were sorely disappointed. The parade was the worst. It was hard to tell it was a parade, aside from the fact that the police had the street blocked off. No color, no music, two "floats"--and that's stretching it for one of the trucks-pulling-a-trailer-with-a-couple-of-balloons-attached. We couldn't believe it. After all, Louisville is the eighth-largest city in the US. Their were actually more plain vehicles with just one or two people riding in the front than decorated..."paraders". Then we worked the gate on Saturday for what was suppose to be two hours. Mary took $$ while I donned armbands. After two & a half hours, I just sat down. Mary had to cash out, of course, so we had to wait....and wait...and wait. I think she would still be sitting there had I not finally threatened to take the damn till if they didn't relieve her. They were woefully short of volunteers--and will be two more short next year--but the "Committee" members managed to always be sitting or standing around doing absolutely nothing--except what quee...umm, maybe I should stop before I say too much. Anyhoo, Mare cashed out (almost two hours after our shift was due to end) with $2600 plus the $200 she started with. At $5 a pop, that's over 500 people that we arm-banded--and that was just in our line. There were two lines! So our perceived failure of the Festival was not due to lack of participation on the community's part--they were there--in force. It could've been so much more. And I fear that each year will gradually become worse if some changes aren't made. I was embarrassed at the parade. But it's over now and time to move onto our next endeavor--which is a vacation for Mary and I-- just Mary and I. Not sure if that will come before or after I go back to Inez's, but I want to take that girl somewhere she can surf. She's never been on a real vacation and she wants to surf more than anything, so I want to do that for her. She deserves it. Kat, I saw more than a few "sun & surf" packages down under...think she's ready for those waves? And btw, can you put us up for a few days?? We'll buy the groceries.

Sorry to hear the festival was such a bummer champ, still at least you and Mary got to spend some time together, and that's never a bad thing. But it's over now and time to move onto our next endeavor--which is a vacation for Mary and I-- just Mary and I. Not sure if that will come before or after I go back to Inez's, but I want to take that girl somewhere she can surf. Yikes they're some BIG waves, where is that, does it say? Yep, reckon I could find some spare room here at "Kat Manor" for two lovely young ladies, as long as you wouldn't mind sharing a room together. You can even try some of my culinary delights if you're game. Edit. ....................... Whoops, just read that part above again and it didn't come out quite right, I meant as long as you and Mary wouldn't mind sharing a room; but you knew what I meant ............ didn't ya?

Morning Sweet Taters. Dang, it feels like it's been awhile since I visited this fine establishment. I've been tired; the heat drains me. It's cooled down a bit though, and yesterday was pleasant; today seems like it'll be the same.
Thinking I'll get some energy back with the cooler weather....as long as I leave the pedometer at home....
We've always wondered how much we actually walk in one day at work - estimating about 3 or 4 miles; about 5 on a busy day. Yesterday, I took Hubs' pedometer to find out.
Thursdays are not particularly busy days - not slow, but nothing like Friday through Saturday, when it seems we can’t sit down to catch our breaths.
At the end of the day, the pedometer read 9.82 miles – over 20,000 steps I stepped. Way more than I imagined! Damn, I was tired just thinking I’d walked that far - far more tired than I'd be if I didn't know how much I'd walked. I went to bed early just because.
I’m not ready to strap the thing on this weekend; I’d probably drop dead from exhaustion as soon as got home and walked door. Definitely a case of Ignorance is Bliss.
Enjoy the day!
