Katman, I would absolutely bet my next paycheck that you would like this one. We "happened" upon it this weekend and it was a treat--in more ways than one!

Wow, it's been along time since I stuck anything up here. So much for "favorite movies of 2007". This one is worth the post. I picked it up because it was in and I was in a hurry. Figuring it to be pretty stupid, we opted for the seasonal pick first. Early work from three guys whose names might be familiar around here--Raimi, Tappert, and Campbell. The Evil Dead. *huge eye roll* Amazing how far the careers of these three have progressed since this movie was made. 1981--I just checked and found another familiar name waaaay down at the bottom of the list--another Raimi by the name of Ted. Imagine that. Anyhoo, Mare swore we tried to watch it last Halloween. I couldn't remember it until we were about 20 minutes in. (She had already moved to the kitchen making tea or stirring the cauldron or something) We switched movies shortly thereafter. To Evan Almighty. The sequel to Bruce Almighty. I like BA. I absolutely love Evan Almighty. It is funny, touching, had-a-lump-in-my-throat heartwarming--on more than one occasion, and just an all-around feel-good family movie. I recommend it to everyone.

Off to see "Michael Clayton" starring George Clooney tomorrow, I'll let you know what it's like; also saw Jodie's new one last week, "The Brave One" will pop on a few thoughts about them both ASAP.

Saw The Brave One last night. Good flic. Different, but good. I like the scruffy, "butch" (hate that word; almost as much as dyke), let's just go with "less feminine" look that Jodi sports in this one.
9/10

Ummmm forgot to get back with a "few thoughts" by the look of it. Very good flick and probably Jodie's third best performance behind "The Accused" and "Silence of the Lambs."
Terrence Howard was also excellent, a great rapport between the two.
7/10
Would have scored it higher but deducted points for the ending when Howard's character assisted Jodie to murder the last thug and then walk away, completely reversing everything he'd said to her in the scene at the coffee shop, one of the best scenes in the film IMO.
What did you think of the ending champ?

Sorry I missed this, Kat. (seems like I'm apologizing all the time anymore ) I agree with you about the ending. I guess sometimes circumstances dictate that we make "adjustments" to our beliefs. Watched I Am Legend with Will Smith the other night. Not sure what to say about it. Of course I have seen the original version The Omega Man with Charlton Heston a dozen times and always thought it kinda creepy. This version is creepy as well--in theory--but something is lost with the use of computerized animals and effects...imo. Cool...The Omega Man was based on a 1954 novel titled... I Am Legend. Guess that means we have come full circle. Anyway, I want to watch it again before I make a final judgement. And after Mare and I watch the original. She has never seen it. We had one on at the shop the other day and it was "adorable to the max". Again, my man, The Rock showing his versatility as an actor in Game Plan. It was soooo cute...and Mare and I both laughed and cried throughout the entire movie. It was one for the family for sure. 10/10. (and not just for the biceps)

One of those movie treats that used to come on once in awhile on Sundays just came on... Tarzan, the Ape Man...the b & w. Now that was a man's man. I actually met Johnny when I was a kid. He was the grand marshall in a city parade of some sort in one of the neighboring towns...I'm bound to have mentioned this before. Lol. He was red-headed and freckled...and old! It was kinda unnerving to see my muscle-bound, loincloth-wearing hero "old"...and in a suit to boot! He was sooo tall, tho. He seemed as tall as a tree to me. Did I tell you I got to shake his hand? It was old and wrinkled, too...but huge! Time to watch the movie. Oh, it was one of those that made my brother and I jump for joy because it meant we were spared the usual western or war flic. And did anyone else have to watch "High Q" on Sunday mornings before the movies or Star Trek came on?

I don't recall a "High Q."
Here's something I wasn't aware of until a few years ago: Mia Farrow is Maureen O'Sullivan's daughter. I don't know how I missed knowing that. And I learned that Maureen O'Sullivan did some scenes in the nude. When Tarzan strips Jane of her clothes and drops her into the water, she is really naked. Whoa!

I hate it when I miss posts. I guess that's why I should always practice what I preach to Katman all the time..."Click on 15 Most Recent Posts..." Sorry, Chel. I didn't know it either about the Mia-Maureen connection. And I told Mary that I thought she was really naked! Very risque for that far back. Tomorrow starts "Horror Movie Mania Marathon Month"! We'll be kicking off here at the shop with Xena and company in a great seasonal episode from a popular series...not sure anybody here remembers it...?? I plan on at least two classics a day all month long. I have to watch/listen to Judge Milian in her People's Court from 1-3 everyday. It's an addict thing. And sometimes I just get tired of the tv being on...but I have to get my October horror fix.

Sorry, Chel.
Not a problem. I don't bookmark the threads I post to, so I hadn't even noticed that there wasn't a reply.
